Last week I went down to Chengdu, in the Sichuan province where the earthquake was in 2008. I stayed with the Monger family who were incredibly hospitable hosts which reflects well on their Southern roots. I really enjoyed my stay in Chengdu, especially since it was the first time I have traveled to and from a different province in China by myself. Sichuan's culinary reputation did not live up to what I had previously heard, however the other things it is known for exceeded expectations. We went to go see the pandas at a large "nature reserve" as well as visiting a remarkably quaint art market.

When reading my blog, you might come across a few words or terms that you are not familiar with. So here is a handy dandy glossary to have.
E.S.E.C.- Educational Services Exchange with China. It's the organization that I work for that has been operating in China since 1981. Needless to say, anything on this blog is my own thoughts and ideas only and is not necessarily approved or endorsed by ESEC
T.I.P-Total Immersion Program. This is the program that I work for. It is an intense twenty day program for English teachers from all across China. Students (ie, the aforemention teachers) are totally immersed in an English environment and forbidden to even speak Chinese during the length of the program. Needless to say, anything on this blog is my own thoughts and ideas only and is not necessarily approved or endorsed by the administration of ESEC or TIP.
